HALLEY GALLERY

The return of Halley’s Comet in 1985 was not spectacular, and it never showed any sign of becoming visible to the naked eye. The apparition was probably the most unfavourable in recorded history, and when the comet was brightest, in February 1986, it was on the opposite side of the Sun to the Earth. It is, however, the most famous comet, and was easily visible in binoculars during late 1985. Perihelion was on February 9, 1986. The observations are from Marden in Kent.
